Loan-to-value ratio, often called LTV, compares a loan balance with the property value. Lenders may use LTV to understand equity, risk, mortgage insurance, and refinance options.
This calculator estimates LTV, equity, and down payment percentage from a property value and loan amount. It works for purchase planning, refinance planning, and home equity comparisons.
Use LTV alongside affordability, PMI, refinance, and home equity calculators to better understand the role of equity in mortgage decisions.
This calculator is for educational and planning purposes only. It is not financial advice, a loan approval, a tax bill, or a lender quote.

Formula
LTV equals loan amount divided by property value. Equity is estimated as property value minus loan amount. Down payment percentage is down payment divided by property value.
A $320,000 loan on a $400,000 home has an 80% LTV. Estimated equity is $80,000, and an $80,000 down payment equals 20%.
